Carlos Lora- Spanish Teacher

Tell us about your education journey?

I received my degree in  Art & Design from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Elementary Bilingual Education – Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

How long have you taught/served in Education?

I have been in music education for 31 Years.

–How many years have you been with your LCA family?

This is my first year at LCA, 2022.

–What church do you attend and how do you serve?

Church At Winder. My wife and I serve in the nursery and are involved with a weekly home group.

–Tell us about your family?

I’ve been married to Linda for 29 years. We met in the Dominican Republic while she was a missionary there. We have three children: Natalie -28, Jonathan – 26, and Eric – 24. Two months ago we welcomed our first grandchild, Silas.

–Tell us something about you we would be surprised to know?

I won the Walmart Teacher of the Year Award in my first year of teaching in the United States.

-What attracted you to LCA?

My previous school closed its doors last May. I had interviewed in several schools but was impressed by Mr. Morris’s kind and gentle demeanor as well as Mrs. Walters’s good-natured and amiable personality as they conducted my interview. I said to myself, “I like this school!”

-What is the biggest desire that you hope students will take from your classroom?

My biggest desire is that my students will be touched personally by God through their interaction in my classes.
