School Counselor Information

Each student is well-known at Lanier Christian Academy by our Student Services Department.  Individual strengths, talents, and preferences are taken into account throughout the school counseling process. Students meet early and often with the school counselor for graduation planning, college preparation, and career guidance.  Informative meetings and workshops are provided for students and parents, both in person and virtually.

Lanier Christian Academy is proud to provide an exceptional school experience backed by the expertise of our outstanding Student Services team.  Ms. Cook is a licensed Professional School Counselor certified in trauma and crisis counseling with extensive experience in high school counseling at both public and private school systems.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Master’s in Professional School Counseling, Specialist in School Counseling, and is working towards College Admissions Specialist certification.  Ms. Cook is a member of GSCA (Georgia School Counselor Association) as well as ASCA (American School Counselor Association).

Why have a School Counselor?

The high school years are full of growth, promise, excitement, frustration, disappointment, and hope. It’s the time when students begin to discover what the future holds for them. High school counselors have an impact on these years by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program and collaborating with school staff, parents, and the community to create a safe and respectful learning environment.  We enhance the learning process by promoting academic, career, and social/emotional development. High school counseling programs are essential for students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, set informed career goals, and realize their full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of their community. School counselors hold a master’s degree or higher and required state certification in school counseling. Maintaining certification includes ongoing professional development to stay current with educational reform and challenges facing today’s students. Professional association membership enhances the school counselor’s knowledge and effectiveness.
