“Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart…” ~Jeremiah 1:5
We are excited to share with you a student-led service project in the month of March called, “KNOWN.” It is being led by our Current Events class, Beta, NHS clubs, and Chick-fil-a Leader Academy.
At LCA we know it is a gift to teach our students and teach them to be disciples of Christ. We know that one of the greatest callings as a disciple is to love and serve others, but what does it practically look like to love and serve others? What does it look like for us to walk this out in our daily lives? How do we put this into action? We do this by sacrificially giving of ourselves for the sake of others, or as Philippians 2:4 says, “not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others.”
Practically, this could look like:
- Mowing a single mom’s yard.
- (sacrificing your time)
- Taking a friend home from practice because it helps their family out.
- (sacrificing your time)
- Door Dash a dinner to a friend or family going through a hard time.
- (sacrificing your money)
- Partner with organizations already meeting the needs of others.
- (sacrificing time and/or money)
As a community, we have the opportunity this March to partner with 2 organizations who are not looking to their own interests but to the interests of others. Families 4 Families (www.families4families.cc) partners with local schools and churches to care for the needs of foster families here in GA while Choices Pregnancy Center (www.choicespregnancy.org) partners with local women and men who have experienced an unplanned pregnancy.
As Christians, we understand and value life—all life, and we have an opportunity set before us to care for the interests of those who are choosing to care for mothers, fathers, and children in need.
How to get involved:
- Pray!: The power of prayer is so important. Please pray for the best way or ways for your family to get involved. Please pray for these organizations to be so surprised and blessed by the giving of our LCA community. Please pray for the families impacted by these 2 organizations and for the leaders who are working in these ministries to be renewed and blessed as well.
- Donations: We are doing a drive with items needed for each organization that your family can bring in Friday, March 3 through Thursday, March 16. Please see the attachments for the specific items each grade is to bring in. There will be boxes in the South, East, and Upper School lobby for items to be placed in.
- Shirts: We will have approved LCA spirit wear shirts for sale, and 100% of the profits will go to buy cribs, high chairs, and bouncy choirs for the Choices Baby Boutique. Shirts will be on sale Wednesday, March 1 through Thursday, March 16. You will be able to order and pay for your shirt(s) via your FACTS account. Please see the attachment for the design and price of shirts. Our goal is to sell at least 200.
- Share: Please feel free to share these attachments on your social media and with friends and family outside the LCA community. We would love to see our students encouraging people to give, serve and bless the interests of others.
