The weekly lower school chapels are joy-filled times that lead students to worship and praise God. Music specifically chosen for younger students and lessons from teachers and guest speakers teach biblical truth on their level. Themes are chosen yearly to encourage application of scripture and complement classroom instruction. Developing Christ-like character and nurturing spiritual growth are the goals of lower school chapel.
Developing and keeping the hearts of our lower school students tender towards the needs of others is the goal of service hours in the younger grades. Students in grades K-5th are required to complete four hours of service per semester. Faculty and parents train students to recognize needs and consider how they can meet those needs. They may serve their own parents/immediate family, but parents are encouraged as a family to find a need outside their own home. Service hours provide a great opportunity to serve others as a family, create wonderful memories together, and teach children about servanthood at the same time.
Philippians 2:3b,4 “ Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
At LCA we respect our students and try to affirm to them their divine value. We strive to encourage students to live in the Truth about who they are in Christ. We purpose to avoid condemnation and try as much as possible to disciple, encourage, and grow them in knowledge, understanding, and relationship with Jesus (Ephesians 1:18-19).
This is the basis for all Student Life at LCA; from daily atmosphere and environment, spiritual growth and discipleship, to our code of conduct and the approach to discipline, and athletics, arts and activities. Everything has an underlying purpose of teaching, promoting, and affirming who they are in Christ as we help them discover how His Word guides every aspect of their lives.
