School Uniform Policy

There are two guiding principles: student safety and a maintaining a standard of dress.

  • Student Safety – We have to be able to easily distinguish individuals that belong on our campus and those that do not.
  • Standard of dress – Our dress code has been an item that we have modified many times to uphold a standard of dress for our students.  It begins with this statement:

“Lanier Christian Academy’s dress code is intended to honor God and encourage modesty and dignity.  Furthermore, a dress code allows the teacher to focus on academics without wasting precious classroom time.  It is expected that students always maintain high standards through appropriate dress.  All elements of the dress code should be honored inside the building upon student arrival at school and remain in effect until the end of the school day.  Provisions and standards relating to the dress code should be respected by the students and parents and are enforceable by the staff anywhere on the campus (inside the building or on the grounds) at all times.”

We are currently making adjustments to get a more consistent standard that is easier for parents and students to understand and comply with and for our staff to be able to enforce.  This has to include clothing items that have a comfortable and appropriate fit for male and female students ranging from grades K – 12.  We have had success and failures with our vendors with selections and styles.  Our parents and students have struggled to consistently and appropriately follow the standard as intended.  We, as a staff, have struggled to consistently and appropriately enforce the standard as expected.

The items that are the most appropriate for the LCA school environment are long pants or shorts with a collared shirt purchased ONLY from the online store (Target Group or Land’s End)

The below is a summary.  Please read the attached Dress Code for more details.

Pants and shorts – We will now allow pants and shorts to be purchased from ANY vendor – must be khaki in color range, have limited numbers of pockets, and shorts should fall around the knee.

(These items, if purchased from vendors other than the online store, are subject to the discretion of the LCA staff.)

Hoodies, Sweatshirts, and Sweaters with the LCA embroidered logo do not need a collared shirt underneath unless the sweatshirt is removed.

Skirts/skorts – MUST be purchased ONLY from LCA online stores.  Color is limited to khaki, black, or plaid.

Purchase Options

In addition, we have changed the options in our online store to items that will hopefully help all of our students be in compliance with our dress code.  We have also added a second online store through Lands’ End that will offer some additional options for uniform purchase.  The links to both stores are below.
